convert2Jpeg

Time to gain control!

Finally - the long-awaited, complete rewrite of convert2Jpeg. Redesigned from the inside-out using the latest Apple technologies, with many new exciting capabilities, including seeing and controlling the converted images right within the App. Lite version is available for free. Standard (original) and Pro versions available via In-App Purchase.

convert2Jpeg lets you take control of photos spread throughout your computer and disks for digital cameras and scanners you've used over the years.

Try convert2Jpeg for FREE, BEFORE you buy the Standard or Pro versions via In-App Purchase, to make sure this App does what you want and expect. This APP has one purpose - it "batch" converts images to a standard JPEG format. If you have an image it doesn't successfully convert, send the image to support@woulasoftware.com, and we'll explore updating the software to support that format.

Capabilities of each version:

Lite version: Select multiple sources of images, folders, or disks; set conversion constraints for size, compression, DPI; find all the images; convert 4 (or less) randomly chosen images out of all those found, copy those images to external locations.

Standard version (via In-App Purchase, or grandfathered for original purchasers of convert2Jpeg version 1.1.0): Select multiple sources of images, folders, or disks; find all images; set conversion constraints for size, compression, DPI; chose to make PNGs also; convert all images (unlimited, but skipping duplicates); copy images to external locations, examine image metadata.

Pro version (via In-App Purchase or via In-App Purchase Upgrade from Standard version): All Premium capabilities; select multiple sources of images, folders, or disks; select Apple Mail archives as a source to search images; select Apple Message archives as a source to search images; find all images; set conversion constraints for size, compression, DPI; chose to make PNGs also; chose whether to delete metadata, convert all images (unlimited, but skipping duplicates); copy images to external locations, examine image metadata, Export to Photos (only on computers running macOS Catalina — 10.15 — or later), Send images via Mail, Send images via Messages, Print images as 35mm slide format or full-size prints, modify the amount of parallel processing performed.

If you are like most of us, you have probably owned and taken photos on several iPhone®, iPad® or other digital cameras - and surprise, every time you get a new one, the naming of the photos starts over, like IMG-001... How many IMG-001 do you have?

convert2Jpeg hunts down the images from wherever you tell it to start, and converts them to JPEG format, standardizes the EXIF metadata, corrects the time stamps for the images and the file systems date/times, AND provides an enhanced, unique, professional name.

convert2Jpeg will process many Digital Camera RAW formats, as well as .psd, .gif, jpeg, jpeg-2000, .bmp, .pict (see Caveat below), .png and .tiff (limited by which types macOS supports on your computer). TRY convert2Jpeg on sample files to make sure it works the way you want BEFORE you buy this APP via In-App Purchase!

convert2Jpeg's unique algorithm examines each specific image and compares it to all others and skips the duplicates, allowing you to potentially eliminate tons of wasted space.

convert2Jpeg enhances the original name to include professional metadata to clearly and uniquely let you identify every image, making it easier to sort and sift through all your images.

The professional name for the newly converted image will be in the format:

"original name"_Now-" pixels wide" x" pixels high-pixels_Was-" pixels wide" x" pixels high"-pixels-"original-filesize""-bytes_Taken-YYYYMMDD-hhmmss-" Camera Manufacturer"-" Camera Model"-" original image type" .jpg

for example:

DSC2862_Now-1920x1280-pixels_Was-8256x5504-pixels-51759135-bytes_Taken-20201210-200943-NIKON CORPORATION-NIKON Z 7-NEF.jpg

convert2Jpeg DOES NOT change or delete any original image, data, file, or names - it places the newly converted image in the convert2Jpeg Archive at a location you specify and CANNOT and WILL NOT write over your existing files.

NOTE: convert2Jpeg looks for and converts original images - not aliases pointing to other locations - so if you select Photos or iPhotos Library as your source, it will find and convert the originals/masters stored in that Library in the MASTERS or ORIGINALS subfolders (not thumbnails, faces, or aliases pointing elsewhere) - it does not follow links in the Photos or iPhotos Library to locate images that are stored in other locations. In other words - if you "imported" your photos into iPhotos or Photos while leaving the originals in their original locations, you will need to directly select the disk or folder that they are stored in - it will not cross-link from iPhotos or Photos.

ALSO NOTE: convert2Jpeg may stumble if filenames contain non Roman/Latin characters, as it relies on ISO/IEC 8859-1 or Latin-1 8-bit character sets that encode all Latin character sets used in Europe and the Americas.

AGAIN: Try convert2Jpeg for FREE, BEFORE you buy the In-App Purchase to make sure this App does what you want and expect.

Caveat: convert2Jpeg attempts to convert PICTs whenever possible. Under macOS 10.14, this works for most Picts; under 10.15 and later, it is problematic due to the elimination of 32-bit processing, and your results may vary.

Throughput and performance for convert2Jpeg are directly tied to the speed of your computer's CPU and graphics card, the amount and speed of memory, and the speed and type of the storage media and all of the sources. Depending on these factors, converting could take a long time, and switching between tabs could appear slow.
